Malta has revealed its entry to the 66th Eurovision Song Contest in May. The songwriter Emma Muscat will travel to Turin with her new song “I Am What I Am”.
She has already performed in Italy before. In fact, the Maltese singer and songwriter has already carved out a career for herself as a recording artist in the Mediterranean country. In 2018 she participated in the long-running Italian talent show, Amici di Maria De Filippi, reaching a grand final that drew a TV audience of just under 5 million viewers.
After her appearance on the show, Emma signed a deal with Warner Music Italy, and a debut album was released. Moments reached the top 3 of the Italian albums chart, and 6 months later even spawned a Christmas edition. To sell the album and its singles, Emma has performed at concerts with the likes of Jason Derulo, Hailee Steinfeld, Sigala, Martin Garrix, Bebe Rexha and Ava Max.
When Emma isn’t releasing her own material, she is a sought-after singer in the rap scene. Two Italian rappers, Shade and Junior Cally, recently had Emma perform as a featured artist on their hit songs. Emma is not only an in-demand singer, but she also composes music, and she’s a skilled musician who can play the piano, too.
With I Am What I Am, Emma Muscat can look forward to introducing herself to her biggest audience yet, as she prepares to take to the stage in Turin for Malta.
