Our Picks for Semi-Final 1 of Eurovision 2021

It was an impossible task. We almost didn’t write this post:

Predicting the qualifiers from this first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 really is an effort in futility. The performers and acts have been in a class of their own and all of them deserve to make it to the Grand Final. Even so, we’ve been watching the rehearsals and our eyes were keenly fixed on the Jury Show, and so, we’ve done it anyway and picked out the acts we ~~think~~ will actually make it to Saturday’s show.

These predictions aren’t necessarily an indicator of our preference—we’re saving that for a return of the famous New Zealand jury ahead of the Grand Final. These are our semi-educated guesses of where the result will land in the first sem-final. And, for reasons previously explored, we could be completely wrong.

Nevertheless, in no particular order, here’s our picks for the qualifiers of Semi-Final 1 of Eurovision 2021.

Russia

Ireland

Lithuania

Malta

Australia

Romania

Belgium

Sweden

Ukraine

Cyprus

There they are! What do you think? Are we on the money or have we missed the mark? Let us know on Twitter.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2021 will take place at the Rotterdam Ahoy in The Netherlands on 19, 21 and 23 May 2021. Eurofans in New Zealand can watch all three shows live on the official Eurovision YouTube channel, without commentary.
