It’s Time To Party: Eurovision 2021 Viewing Events in Auckland, Christchurch

With COVID-19 eliminated in New Zealand, it’s only right we celebrate by getting as close as we can* to watch the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021, together! Don’t bring a towel.

We’re keeping track of public Eurovision events happening around the country. If we’ve missed one, please tell us! Remember, if there isn’t one near you or you’d rather keep the comforts of home close, you can watch the Contest from wherever you are in New Zealand.

Auckland — All Saints Community Centre, Howick

The Auckland Finnish Society is hosting a Eurovision viewing event in Howick, but Eurofans supporting every and all countries are welcome! The AFS promotes Finnish values and connects Finns in New Zealand, so there’s bound to be a few Blind Channel fans in the audience. Bring a critical eye: you’ll be scoring the acts during the show!

Sunday 23 May, 6:30 AM at All Saints' Community Centre (30 Cook Street, Howick). Learn more and register here.

Christchurch — LEVEL ONE, New Brighton

We have to get up early for the ESC in New Zealand (though, not quite as early as those across the ditch) so, naturally, breakfast is a common occurrence at Europarties. The kind folks at Level One are planning a viewing event for those breakfast seekers, with a special menu that may just include a mimosa or two. (Should we say Bucks Fizz?)

Sunday 23 May, 7:00 AM at LEVEL ONE Craft Beer and Coffee Bar (1/217 Marine Parade, New Brighton). If you're interested, RSVP on Facebook.

If we’ve missed a public event, please tell us!

The Eurovision Song Contest 2021 will take place in Ahoy, Rotterdam in The Netherlands on 19, 21 and 23 May 2021. Eurofans in New Zealand can watch all three shows live on the official Eurovision YouTube channel, without commentary.

*Within the rules! As always, if you’re planning on attending a Eurovision party in New Zealand during Alert Level One:

  • don’t go if you’re unwell
  • keep track of where you go and who you’re with: scan QR codes and turn Bluetooth tracing on in the NZ COVID Tracer app
  • keep a safe distance from people you don’t know
  • keep washing those hands for at least 20 seconds
