Jessica Mauboy to Perform in Auckland in February

Australia’s Eurovision 2018 representative Jessica Mauboy will take a trip over the ditch next month to perform at the Demon Energy Summer Jam to be held in Auckland in February.

Jessica, who was recently confirmed to be Australia’s next Eurostar after much speculation, will appear alongside Stan Walker, Tomorrow People, Smashproof and SWIDT at the event. The Demon Energy Summer Jam is an annual event organised as part of Auckland Council’s popular Music and Movies in Parks series that hosts 24 free and hugely-popular events across the city, including the Open Air Orchestra and the Demon Energy Rock The Park, as well as smaller community events.

Jessica will play the event in February as she prepares for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal, to be held from May 8 through May 12.

The head of Australia’s delegation to the song contest, Paul Clarke, said Jessica had “opened the door for Australia to compete at Eurovision”.

“Before the great moments of Guy, Dami and Isaiah, there was Jess, who touched the hearts of the Eurovision directors and proved just how talented our vocalists are,” he said.

“Since then we have always wanted to give Jessica a shot at the competition, and this year the stars aligned. We can’t wait to develop a great song and stage production with Jessica and her team, and recreate her Eurovision style as a galactic soul diva.”

The Demon Energy Summer Jam, presented by Auckland Council and Mai FM, is a free, family-oriented event and will take place at the Manukau Sports Bowl on Saturday 10 February 2018. For more, visit the Music in Parks website.
